Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to Urban studies and planning. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.
Nick 16:28, 28 June 2006 (UTC) I've got a lot of resources to draw from (books, lectures, presentations, etc.) and I want to make Wikipedia far more useful and organized in this area.
CQ 02:20, 14 July 2006 (UTC) • WP:CBTF • I'm here because i keep running into you folks while working on Community stuff
CComMack (t•c) 02:08, 20 July 2006 (UTC) (particularly interested in transportation planning)
Chaerani Urban design and urban planning, sustainability.
Rickyrab | Talk 14:37, 16 January 2007 (UTC) Transportation planning, land use, history of urban development, historical mapping of cities (which appears to have been lacking from an Internet POV, even though there are numerous historical city maps: there's no real standard even for a single city, with the result being that comparing historical maps of the same city is difficult).
TonyBoswell 17:54, 19 January 2007 (UTC) Sign me up for this. I am particularly interested in U.K Town and Country Planning, and the legal/procedural aspects. Sustainability issues are on my radar - particularly the U.K legeslative and implementation aspects. (As a relative newcomer I also need the Wikipractice)!
DWaterson 20:46, 31 January 2007 (UTC) - I've edited a number of articles on the UK planning system in the past, so I might as well join too! I'm not a chartered town planner myself, though I do work in private practice in the business. I'm not a chartered surveyor either, but I do that now...
Uneirlys 23:01, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Interested in beginning to contribute to some of the historical British material
Futurano 14:27, 29 March 2007 (UTC) Just a newbie interested in urban social studies, migration & expansion, crime, subcultures, future studies, urban nature preservation etc. Poorly connected to all this in real life, simply a researcher and PR agent living in a large third world city. Need a Wiki practice too.
Midwestmax 18:27, 12 April 2007 (UTC) I'm particularly interested in articles on land use and will be helping out when I can. Please let me know if you have feedback on my edits or if you want to collaborate.
MRSC • Talk 08:50, 16 March 2008 (UTC) - UK regional and urban planning, the Thames Gateway
Parkwells (talk) 15:38, 22 April 2008 (UTC) Practitioner in the US, especially interested in urban history and design, but also social history and migrations
Mesmith9 7 June 2008 (UTC) - I am a researcher on ancient and preindustrial cities and willing to help out now and then when I have time.
Bhockey10 (talk) 07:25, 16 July 2008 (UTC)- former architecture major, still very interested in Urban Planning
Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
The WikiProject banner below should be moved to this page's talk page. If this is a demonstration of the template, please set the parameter |category=no to prevent this page being miscategorised. If this message still displays with that parameter, see the template documentation.

--Nick 21:42, 28 June 2006 (UTC) created template page. Image is the Chicago skyline. It was the first "urban" area that came to mind for me. I would really like a more stylized image if we can find/make one.
