NotTheWikipediaWeekly is a grassroots and utterly "unofficial" attempt to build on the fine work of the good people over at Wikipedia Weekly. We're running occasional Skypeconference calls and skypecasts which are open to all, and we discuss various wiki issues of the moment. Yes, we have shamelessly stolen the format used by our 'official' cousins!
If you have any questions or suggestions at all, including any feedback about something you've heard, feel free to drop a note on the talk page, and someone will be happy 'Not' to help you!
To participate, you'll need to install the latest version of Skype onto your computer, have a Skype ID you don't mind sharing with the world, and of course you'll need a microphone and speakers, or headset.
It's not very difficult to host a Skypecast on your own, and you're welcome to propose a dedicated episode with participants and topics of your choosing, which would also Not be Wikipedia Weeklys. Consensus at this page will determine whether or not they remain officially NotTheWikipediaWeekly however! Please do get involved!
One way to join a Not The Wikipedia Weekly discussion is to first join the NTWW Skype public chat before the Skypecast starts, which can be reached by clicking on the link: Click to join the NTWW Skype public chat.
Another method that is available when a Skypecast room and number is provided is to click on the number or link below to enter the Skypecast room. A link to join the 'room' will appear on this page about half an hour before the scheduled start time of the conversation, if a Skypecast room is available (which will not always be true, given the time and Skype traffic).
If you have Skype installed on your machine, all you will need to do to participate is click on the link. It can take a few attempts to connect to the Skypecast. If you have any questions, other participants will be monitoring this page, the associated talk page, and likely be available on IRC and in the NTWW Skype public chat also. Feel free to ask for help if you are having trouble connecting. We'll do what we can to help.
Moving to Meta: it's been proposed that Not the Wikipedia Weekly head over to Meta under a new name. Like that idea? If so, let's brainstorm the new name.

Durova told me to put down the suggestion to discuss Wikimania 2010, and our six-Wiki collaboration to bring the 2010 conference to Sweden. If it can be a topic of discussion, I'd like to contribute as the bid chair. Mike H.Fierce! 10:30, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Sure, maybe. Though you know I've been ill of late. Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 18:51, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I can be in attendance. Anthøny✉ 22:32, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
(Although I shall only be available by text. Anthøny✉ 13:51, 5 October 2008 (UTC))
Will probably attend. Don't know if I can contribute much, but I'm interested esp. in the inclusionism/deletionism bit and might chime in there. Everyme 13:49, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Real time editing! The participants created and expanded the article "Frog Legs Rag" about a classic rag by composer James Scott. Highlights include getting speedily deleted two minutes after article creation and Shoemaker's Holiday's construction of a MIDI for the song. In one hour we expanded and cited enough to qualify for nomination at Template:Did you know.
We've got a little external site now over at ntww.dan.info. It's just a simple page where you can stream all the files below if you like... and now we've even figured out how to put them in an RSS feed here!
Below are links to externally hosted mp3 files of our conversations to date... perfect for long, sleepless nights, international air travel, or as an accompaniment to watching your recently-painted fence dry... Big thanks to User:Dtobias for setting this up - and we'll hopefully have something clever like an RSS feed before too long! (...and that time is now... the feed is live!) (any help or advice on improving this would be appreciated, actually!)
I'd probably recommend you save these files locally before listening... maybe by 'right clicking' and selecting 'save target as' or whichever browser message you get...
