Newbie tests in Wikipedia often take the form of typing exercises ("adsfjklasdfjkl") curious questions ("wow, what is this?") or miscellaneous irrelevant comments ("ed gruberman is gay"). These can have the message {{delete}} safely placed in them so that they can be deleted by an administrator. You might also want to consider placing {{test}} on the creator's user page to help point them in the right direction.

Spotting newbie tests

  1. Don't be fooled by the title. The title may make you think that it is a valid article.
  2. Don't be fooled by the edit summary. Edit summaries may or may not describe the content added accurately.
  3. Size of article is sometimes a rough guide to spot such pages quickly although there may be some large pages.
  4. Consider whether the article meets the criteria for speedy deletion.
