The Whitgift Foundation is a charity based in Croydon, South London, England, established in 1596 by John Whitgift, Archbishop of Canterbury, who lived at Croydon Palace. The purpose of the charity is to provide education for the young and care for the elderly. It is a registered charity in England & Wales.1

The foundation runs three independent day schools: Old Palace School, Trinity School of John Whitgift, and Whitgift School. The foundation provides bursaries and scholarships to those families unable to afford full tuition. The foundation also provided sheltered accommodation and nursing care through the Almshouses and Whitgift House.

The foundation is a major property owner in Croydon including the freehold of Croham Hurst golf course and the freehold and 25% of the rental income of the Whitgift Centre, Croydon, one of the most successful shopping centres in south-east England.

The foundation is governed by a Court of Governors, including the Bishop of Croydon, currently Nicholas Baines; the Vicar of Croydon; and nominees of the Archbishop of Canterbury and Croydon Council. As of 2005, the Chairman is Sir Douglas Lovelock.
