Wasmannia is a genus of ants that are social, native to tropical habitats, and haplodiploid, with the reproductive castes (queens and drones) haploid, and the worker caste diploid. They are also known as the little fire ant and are considered a destructive invasive species.¹² In one species, W. auropunctata, the males and females have been shown to reproduce clonally.³
