Vivisection

'Vivisection' is any experimental cutting of, or surgery on, a living organism. More broadly, the term is often used today to describe any experiment upon living animals.^[1] In this context the term is preferred by those opposed to research using animals, whereas scientists typically use "animal experimentation."^[2][3]
