Franz Josef StraußMight I ask you to take a look at the new discussion going on at Franz Josef Strauß? Yes, it is an ancient topic (the use of ß on en-wiki), but this is one of the most prominent articles in which this issue is of significance. fring - Thank youHi Angela. Thank you for rescuing the fring article. I am not sure what the next step would be to get the article back in wikipdia but i am sure you would be able to guide me, I would not like to do something that will get the article deleted so i hope you could help me to get this article restored. I was just reading Davids article, he wrote a great article o Israel. Thank you once again for getting this article one step closer to being restored. regards Simon Goplett (talk) 21:31, 22 December 2007 (UTC) Removing the taint of copyright violationHi Angela, In Talk:Information_overload#Revert_of_possible_copyright_violation, you made a comment on dealing with an article that included copyright violations. A couple of months ago, I spotted a similar problem with the article on CAIR, except that it involved cut and paste jobs from several sources with both pro and anti-CAIR viewpoints. (See Talk:Council_on_American-Islamic_Relations#Major_reversion_due_to_copyright_problems for evidence). I tried to discuss the issue, and raise it in copyright problems, but I failed to get a definitive answer on whether reversion is needed or not. I couldn't find any firm guidelines on how to deal with this kind of situation (ie whether reversion is needed or whether editing out of the offending text is sufficient). Are you aware of any such guidelines? Thanks, Andjam (talk) 03:31, 25 December 2007 (UTC) ComplaintAngela as usual sorry to bother you. Mr. Wales got a barnstar--twice now--from me. Fair use rationale for Image:Scimitar logo.jpgThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Scimitar logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Save_Us_229 21:46, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Your doppelgangersSome time back, User:Conrad Devonshire created User:AngeIa Beesley (note: that's A-n-g-e-Capital Eye-a...) and some other similar ones as doppelgangers to your account to prevent impersonation. Later, that user was blocked and eventually his user page was deleted. So there are now some orphan doppelgangers. Perhaps you would like to adopt them yourself; otherwise, would MFD be appropriate? I'll take you up on your offer to help! You left a note on my talk page some time ago offering help to me as a new user. Hope you don't mind...I really have tried to find the answer online... My question is what is the accepted practice for removing wikipedia tags (like advert and notability) placed by others, from an article? Should I wait for the person that put them there to remove them, or can I or anyone else remove them if the issues are addressed? Thanks. RFC: Style guideline for PD sourced contentUser:Doncram is acting on a conviction that PD-source tags are tantamount to a representation of plagiarism. He has been engaged in discussion on several article talk pages, a template talk page, and a style guideline discussion page, listed at RFC. He has stopped blanking PD-sourced content, but continues to exhort editors, incorrectly in my view, that PD sourced content needs to be enclosed in quotes with intext cites to conform to Wikipedia style guidelines. Any light you can shed is appreciated. -- Paleorthid (talk) 19:26, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm afraid that I don't know too much about the details of what this entails, other than having a private hope that we might get a secret handshake, and maybe cheap coffee at wikimania (this is a poor attempt at humour - I'm sure that the Chapter's do great work, and it's a good thing that Australia is to have one). If you're interested in meeting up this weekend (the set date is the 20th) - or later, then please do head over here and sign up, or make a comment at the talk page... the drive to create the chapter has largely come from another town in Australia that I'm afraid I haven't actually heard much about.. and anything they can do.... right? - cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 11:11, 14 April 2008 (UTC) Copyright violation???? and request for mediationI showed an official reference instead they made edits without references-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenshinhan reference number 30 is not official but it comes from a fan page which means they made unsourced editions several times. Template creation policy (HasSpoilers deleted for no reason)I did a template called {{HasSpoilers}}. As you are from Wikia.com too, you should know why we use them for. An admin deleted it here and called me a vandal! I am very sensitive and I am sending a copy to you of what I answered to him. Maybe you can explain me Wikipedia policy different from Wikia.com policy. The vandalic template content was: to be included in The Celestial Plot. I should have pasted there instead of creating a template, but I am lazy... I prefer templates. And he put this on the template: This includes blatant and obvious misinformation, and redirects created during cleanup of page move vandalism. Misinformation? It is a template to be included in articles, I am not claiming that Wikipedia is a spoiler or something as that admin seems to think... Strange, no? I did not understand the thing about cleanup of move, I understand Wikia policies, it seems that Wikipedia policies are harder for my poor brain. And I paste here my answer to him: >Sorry, I did not know about policies here. I come from Literature Wikia and >there we have a template {{spoiler}} to include the >warning. I don't think which is the case for deleting, explain to me, >because I will just include it in some short stories articles that contain >spoilers. > >*Isn't it the same than just pasting the whole sentence? >*Which is the policy? Please say the policy in words me to read a 100 >paragraphs article about wikipedia policy. I don't have much time. If you >won't then don't even bother to answer. >*Is creating a useful template being a vandal? Then we should not create >them? >*I was not "testing" but you said me to use the sandbox. It was to be >included in articles. >*Check http://literature.wikia.com and see that there it is not considered >spoiling. And don't answer me that wikia is wikia and that wikipedia is >wikipedia because I already know, I am not so idiot. >If some of this sounded rude to you, I felt someone was rude by deleting it >so fast. You could have said that to me first then deleting it. >And I am not a vandal, please stop harassing me. Being ignorant is not >vandalism. Vandalism is deleting articles and including nonsense. My >template was not nonsense, I think, it is useful. >David (talk) 01:38, 4 May 2008 >(UTC) My questions to you are: Am I right or not? Or that template was the devil itself in ways that I cannot imagine? I am not right, I think I should go back to Wikia.com. At least there, I am not called a vandal for unknown reasons. I am not weeping, but I claim to be treated like a user; I am not a vandal for creating a simple template that everyone in Literature Wikia uses, am I? For want of a better forumI like to think I have a good idea of where to go for just about any question or discussion on en.wiki, but this one really does have me stumped. Over at Wikipedia talk:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License#Standards we're having a bash at playing a little (emphasis on little, don't worry :D) with this page. I've come to realise that there's absolutely no reason whatsoever why we need to have a local copy of this page at all: would it be a good idea to move the page, and presumably all its companions on every other wiki in every other language, to a central page, possibly foundation:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License. What do you think? Good idea? If so, how do we go about doing that (do you have an account at foundation:?)? I'll be watching here, or at that discussion - wherever's most convenient. If you love the idea, but the time and / or place don't quite work for you, please do feel free to wiki edit away at the meetup page and I'm sure we can sort something out :-) Meetups are a great way to share wiki-thoughts, meet wiki-friends, and generally learn how to prefix all areas of your life with wiki- :-) It's a very friendly bunch, and we're hoping to be able to formally collect membership fees and details for the Australian Chapter (did you know that we're the only current english speaking chapter? Join now for kudos and future bragging rights!) - as well as just generally have a good 'ol time. I look forward to seeing you there :-) best, Privatemusings (talk) 07:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
