I came to Wikipedia out of a love of researching, learning, and writing and a willingness to share this by donating my time, efforts and access to and investments in print sourcing to building up Wikipedia as an information source. I enjoyed working not only on the articles on big subjects which are easily-sourced, but especially on the articles on fascinating, obscure, small topics, and on topics which are little-known to the general English-speaking reader today. Working on these articles is challenging for the editor and provides valuable and hard-to-obtain information for the reader. I feel that it is with articles on these non-traditional subjects that Wikipedia provides its greatest service. However it is precisely these articles which today must constantly fight to survive deletion by those with a proudly and stubbornly limited view of what Wikipedia should be. I believe that the Wikipedia community as a whole today either passively accepts, or actively favors and encourages the easy, lazy and arrogant removal of information over the hard work it takes to make contributions. The Wikipedia community is not only tolerant of the disruption that continuous deletionism creates at this project, but even rewards it. To survive and succeed at Wikipedia today means to engage in politics, to police and remove the work of others, and to contribute to policies and guidelines rather than articles. Wikipedia today is about making and enforcing rules, not about creating articles. That is not why I came here, and it is not what I wish to do here. As is any large-member Internet project, it is an online game in which those with the least offline real-life will always win. If you like to vandalize, or shoot down vandals like space aliens, this is the place for you. If you want to troll and bait editors by removing as much content as you can, this is the place for you. If an AfD discussion goes against you the first, second, third... time, just pull the lever again, and you'll eventually hit the jackpot. If you want to remove information, AfD is like Las Vegas without the potential for loss! But if you want to research, write, and share information... look elsewhere.
I am Dekkappai.
I bid you...
farewell.
