Tsukijishijō Station (築地市場駅 , tsukiji shijō eki ? ) is a subway station in Chūō, Tokyo . It serves the lower part of the Tsukiji district, including the enormous Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market , the Tokyo headquarters of the Asahi Shinbun newspaper, and Japan 's National Cancer Center .
The name of the station literally means "Tsukiji Market Station," and is planned to be changed in 2012 when the wholesale market is moved from Tsukiji to Ariake .
