The song is about having a double life. A part of the lyrics states, "Who woulda thought that a girl like me would double as a superstar?". On the television show, Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) has a secret -- she's the world famous pop star, Hannah Montana. Miley wants to be treated normally by her peers, so she keeps her alter ego a secret from everyone but her close friends and family. The song makes a reference to Orlando Bloom in the second verse.

"The Best of Both Worlds" was a big hit on Radio Disney, where it peaked at #1 on the Radio Disney Top 30 Countdown, which is the radio station's weekly countdown.
In August 2006, shortly after the debut of the Hannah Montana television series, "The Best of Both Worlds" charted on the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at #92 and falling off the chart the following week[1]. It debuted on the UK Singles Chart at #43 in February 2007.

In a Hannah Montana episode titled When You Wish You Were the Star, a Hannah doll sings a spoof of the song called "The Best of One World", a reference to the fact that Miley now lives only one life, and thus, she doesn't have the "best of both worlds", nor can she.
