Wonderfish form a small family of anglerfishes, Thaumatichthyidae, comprised of 2 genera. They are native to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. They resemble the Oneirodidae but have a distinctive upper jaw which projects beyond the lower and gives them their alternative common name of wolftrap anglers. The common name "wonderfish" is a literal translation of the type genus, "Thaumatichthys".
