The album is the band's most melodic and varied to date - with track 6 "The Weak Willed" filled with death growl-type vocals and blast beats. A 12th track was also recorded during the sessions to make this album. It was a re-recording and update to the song "Follow" which can be found on their 2002 debut Behind Silence and Solitude.
The album was produced by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, and engineered by ex-Soilwork guitarist Peter Wichers. The album was the band's first to enter the Billboard 200 charts at number 75 respectively, with just under 13,000 copies sold.
