Obtaining the rank in SwedenIt is awarded after completing 11 months of level 7 conscript training or after compleating a minimum of 6 months of basic military training followed by one year training at the Specialist Officers School. Level 7 corresponds to team leader level. Obtaining the rank in FinlandTwo months of basic military training and selected for underofficer training, followed by 10 month of reseerve underofficers training. Top graduates are promoted to Kersantti depending on availiable positions in the war organization, the rest to alikersantti. Sweden: New two-career-path systemAfter the implementation of the two-career-paths systems for officers 2008, this rank will become a professional rank within the newly created “specialist officer” category. Typically specialists, team-leaders (5-8 soldiers) and/or tank commanders will hold this rank. The intention of the new system is to better align Swedish military forces with that of Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Britton as well as increasing the skills of leaders of team, squad, platoon level units. Furir, Överfurir, Sergeant and Fanjunkare were removed as a professional ranks. Holders of the rank Fanjunkare were promoted to Löjtnant and the rest to Fänrik.
