Senses of Cinema is prominent quarterly online film journal founded in 1999. Though based out of Melbourne, Australia, Senses of Cinema published work by film critics from all over the world and covers many international festivals.

Its contributors have included Acquarello, Nicole Brenez, Chris Fujiwara, Tag Gallagher, Craig Keller, Dušan Makavejev, Adrian Martin, Jonathan Rosenbaum, David Sterritt and many others.

Format

Every issue of Senses of Cinema follows roughly the same format: roughly a dozen "featured articles," often related to a unifying theme. a handful of DVD reviews, reports from various major, regional and underground film festivals, book reviews and annotations to recent screenings and retrospectives at the Melbourne Cinémathèque.

Senses of Cinema regularly publishes interviews in its featured articles section.

Great Directors

Senses of Cinema also maintains a database of career overview essays on "great directors." The essays range in scope and length, and but they all maintain an auteurist perspective on the filmmakers' work.
