Saroki is a village located in Gujrat District, Pakistan, on the Sargodha road just before the town of Kunjah. With an average population of 10,000 the town's main source of income is farming it is located on the bank of the Upper Jehlum canal, which runs into the power plant in Shadiwal.
Saroki is well known for the darbar (shrine) of Pir Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah Tirmezi, who migrated here from his native village of Mangowal, which is also in Gujrat district. He was known as a great spiritual saint with immense influence in the surrounding villages. He hails from the family of Hafiz Syed Abdul Rahim Shah who was also a very renowned sufi of Gujrat and contributed immensely to the spread of Islam from the late-1800s to around 1947 when he died. Hafiz Syed Abdul Rahim Shah is famous for converting the inhabitants of forty Sikh and Hindu villages into Muslims through his preachings and miracles.citation needed
Many of Saroki's residents are now working in the UK, Europe, United States, Dubai and the Far East. Apart from producing rice, the village is known for processing leather hides. Local personalities have included the late Chaudhry Ghulam Qadir, Muhammad Sharik (formerly the district Nazim) and Chaudry Akhtar Sarkana.
