SAOIRSE Irish Freedom is the monthly organ of Republican Sinn Féin. It was first published in May 1987 and incorporated the "Republican Bulletin"1 The name is derived from the Irish word for "Freedom". It is also a given name to females and males in Ireland. It had been popular since the 1920s. "Saoirse" is pronounced "sear+sha". 2
