Santino Fontana is an American actor, best known for his role as Hamlet in the Guthrie Theater's closing play in the spring of 2006. Fontana also originated the role of Matt in the 2006 revival of The Fantasticks. His Broadway debut was Sunday in the Park with George in 2007 at Studio 54. Fontana is set to play the role of Tony in the upcoming Broadway production of Billy Elliot, which begins previews at the Imperial Theatre on October 1, 2008 with performances starting November 13, 2008.¹ He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program, class of 2004.
