The City of Santa Rosa (In Tagalog, Lungsod ng Santa Rosa) is a first class city in the province of Laguna, Philippines. It is also known as "The Investment Capital of South Luzon" since 1994. The city lies 38 kilometers south of Manila via the South Luzon Expressway, making it a suburban residential community of Metro Manila. This quiet town of Laguna started its progress initially from the establishment of Filsyn, CIGI and couple of other small multinational companies there when the government BOI provided for incentives to companies located at not less than 40 kilometers away from Manila. According to the 2007 census, City of Santa Rosa has a population of 266,943 inhabitants (185,633 people in 43,625 households in census 2000) but in 2005, it surpassed San Pablo City in terms of population, making it the fourth largest town or city in Laguna after Calamba City, San Pedro and Biñan.
Until a few years ago, Santa Rosa was mainly known for the Coca-Cola and Toyota manufacturing plants in its industrial estates. More recently it has also become famous for being the site of Enchanted Kingdom, a local theme park, as well as several housing developments. Santa Rosa is also the exit travellers take along the South Luzon Expressway to go to Tagaytay and Taal Volcano. This city contains the 3rd largest complex in Laguna, Paseo de Santa Rosa.
City of Santa Rosa is also the location for the largest plant of The Coca-Cola Company in the Philippines, which is situated right across the Santa Rosa Exit of the South Luzon Expressway.
Santa Rosa is the 2nd municipality/city in Southern Luzon to have both an SM and Robinsons after Dasmarinas in Cavite
The main vehicle for transportation used in Santa Rosa City are Jeepneys. But, people also use Tricycles and Buses for transportation. In Laguna Bel Air, the people use the village shuttle within the village complex.
Old National Road - the road from Alabang, Muntinlupa City to Pagsanjan that motorists can pass into it.
Laguna Boulevard - the road that links from Asia Brewery, Inc., Greenfield City, and Laguna Technopark, Binan and can take at South Luzon Expressway. In the future, it will go straight at the intersection of it and United Avenue. The extension southwards is under construction.

Biñan, together with Barrio Bukol (Santa Rosa, before separation from Biñan) separated from Cabuyao. After a series of renaming, separation of barrios to become independent towns, Barrio Bukol was politically emancipated as the municipality of Santa Rosa. The town was renamed after Saint Rosa of Lima, Peru.
The town was left abandoned by the Japanese soldiers when the local guerrilla resistance movement, with support from the American and Filipino military contingent, entered the town proper, where skirmishes, torture, and deaths occurred.
1945 to 1979
During the post-war era, until the 1970s, the townspeople were largely dependent on basic agriculture and family-owned enterprises for livelihood. The influence of industrialization slowly took shape in the 1980s with the entry of local and foreign investors who were instrumental in the fast-pace economic and social transformation of the town and the province.
Mayor Leon Arcillas was assassinated inside the city hall. Afterwards, the mayor died after the bullet shot to his body. Vice Mayor Jose Catindig, Jr. became an acting mayor , while Arcillas's eldest daughter, Councilor Arlene Arcillas-Nazareno became an acting vice-mayor. They serve until June 30, 2007. An Arcillas supporter, Councilor Artemio "Boyie" Gomez, Jr., Councilor Arnel D.C. Gomez's father, was also assassinated, and made Boyie's son an acting councilor to continue Boyie's term up to 2007. Arnel was re-elected in 2007. The whole city gave Arcillas and Gomez a full honor.
Vice Mayor Arlene Arcillas-Nazareno took oath after winning the election and became the first female city mayor and first mayor who is a relative of the former mayor (Leon Arcillas - Father, Arlene Arcillas-Nazareno - Daughter). He won against Jose Catindig, Jr. and Roberto "Tito" Gonzalez.
Eton City (under construction; Barangay Malitlit and Pulong Santa Cruz) - owned by Lucio Tan, with commercial and residential areas, nicknamed as "Makati of the South".
