The Riverfront Times (also known as the RFT) is an alternative newsweekly in St. Louis, Missouri that consists of local politics, music, arts and dining news in the print edition and daily updates to blogs and photo galleries on its Web site. The paper and Web site also feature a weekly syndicated column by sex advice writer Dan Savage.

History

The paper was founded in 1977 by Ray Hartmann who sold the newspaper in 1998 to New Times. In 2006, New Times Media took on the Village Voice Media name after merging with them. The paper has a weekly circulation of approximately 85,308 copies.[1]

The paper has received considerable recognition, including more than three dozen awards from the Missouri Press Association,citation needed along with the group's Gold Cup.citation needed It is widely distributed at various locations around the St. Louis area.
