Pernis is a village and district of the municipality of Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands. The district has a population of 4,560 (2005) on a total area size of 1.60 km². Pernis is not a full submunicipality (deelgemeente) of Rotterdam, but the former independent municipality nevertheless has its own district council. Although surrounded by ports, Pernis has preserved it's village-like atmosphere very well.

Pernis is best known because of its petrochemical industry. Many refineries are part of its skyline.

Pernis was a separate municipality until 1934, when it became part of Rotterdam.[1]
