Notable people
- Hone Heke, Ngā Puhi chief, was born in Pakaraka in about 1808.[2]
- The missionary Henry Williams retired to Pakaraka and built a church in 1851.[3]
Education
Pakaraka School is a coeducational full primary (years 1-8) school with a decile rating of 2 and a roll of 57.[4] 92% of the students are Māori.[5]
