Obowo, also spelled Obowu, is a Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria, and is headquartered in Otoko.¹ Other towns in the LGA include Umulogho, Avutu² and Umuokeh.³ Former Imo State Governor Sam Mbakwe was born in and died in Obowo.² Obowo is located about 45 minutes from Owerri, the Imo State capital and less than 30 minutes, and right across the Imo river, from the Abia State capital, Umuahia.
