Past service

The "130 Lebanon Street, Melrose - Malden Center Station via Lebanon Street Melrose, Sylvan Street & Oak Grove" was discontinued in the early 2000s when the 106 was extended to Franklin Square. The reason for the cease in service was a lack in ridership. The closure of this route allowed the service frequency of the 132 to improve from running at 90 minutes or better to 60 minutes or better. Also the "135 Wakefield Square - Oak Grove Station via Wakefield, Greenwood & Downtown Melrose" which was a shortened version of the 136 or 137 route was a footnote on the 136/137 schedule until the MBTA decided in 2004 that it was better to renumber the route as various versions of the 136.
