OOM Gallery is located in Birmingham , England . It houses the extensive archives of multimedia artist Pogus Caesar . As a contemporary venue OOM Gallery displays photography , photomontages , films and has regular online exhibitions .
For the past 20 years Pogus Caesar has worked as a producer and director of British television programmes , broadcasters have included Central TV , Carlton TV and BBC TV . During this time he has met and photographed numerous individuals involved in politics , film , music , sport and arts . OOM Gallery Archive currently houses in excess of 16,000 images covering Caesar's work in North and South America , South Africa , Canada , Italy , Spain , India , Albania , Sweden , Denmark , Britain, North Africa and the West Indies .
Recent exhibitions have included Muzik Kinda Sweet, Handsworth Riots - Twenty Summers On, and From Jamaica Row - Rebirth of the Bullring, Vibes. In 2002 Caesar was commissioned by Artangel , London to produce Forward Ever - Backward Never, a film based on the work of Turner prizewinner Steve McQueen .
OOM Gallery Archive images have been used by BBC TV, Carlton TV, Birmingham City Archives , The History Channel , Birmingham Museum Art Gallery , University of Warwick , Birmingham Central Library , Teachers TV , Whats On Magazine , Outside Left Magazine , Sunday Mercury , Doollee.com, Macmillan Publishers , Digital Handsworth, Fused Magazine , Connecting Histories , Foundation for Art and Creative Technology , the Otolith Group, Punch Records and Liverpool University Press
OOM Gallery regularly collaborates with individuals and organisations by developing and producing a diverse range of multimedia projects. In 2006, OOM Gallery in conjunction with Midwest , developed a major conference 'Should Black Art Still Be Beautiful?'. The conference, in honour of the late Donald Rodney , examined the development of contemporary black cultural practice and its future in Britain. Speakers included Dr Kobena Mercer , Bea De Souza , Juginder Lamba , Said Adrus , Don Kinch and Dr Amna Malik . The conference was funded by Arts Council of Great Britain and was held at Walsall Art Gallery , Walsall , West Midlands .
OOM Gallery is a source for public and private collectors, newspapers , magazines , advertising agencies , art galleries , libraries , museums and record labels .
