The village of Nymfaio.
Nymfaio (also spelled Nimfeo or Nymphaio, Greek: Νυμφαίο) is a primarily Aromanian (Vlach) community in the Florina Prefecture of Macedonia, Greece. Population 413 (2001). According to village statistics, the population in 1895 was close to 3,500. Urbanization in Greece, left a vacuum with an estimated 50 permanent residents in the village of Nymfaio as of 2008. The village is protected by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture in order to retain its originality and history.
Currently there are 6 functioning hotels in Nymfaio for those interested in visiting the village. There is a cultural museum in the village and a beautiful Orthodox Church. Next to the church there is an old cemetery that goes back to the 18th and 19th century.
The name of the city is Nevesca in Aromanian (Vlach), meaning invisible. There is a 7-8km car drive to the village from the main road located in the village of Aeto and the road was not paved till the 1950's.
