Norwich University College of the Arts, formerly Norwich School of Art & Design (commonly known as NSAD), is a higher education specialist art and design college, based on a single site in the centre of Norwich, in the United Kingdom. Its Project Space replaces the Norwich Gallery.
HistoryThe School of Art was founded in 1845. The current institution is the product of a merger between the Norwich School of Art and Great Yarmouth College of Art. It takes 1,100 higher education students. The School offers a range of courses including FdA, BA, MA, MPhil and PhD. The building on Redwell Street which is given the name Francis House is the main reception for NUCA, while the academic building is another 2 minute walk from this point which offers almost all of the equipment you will need from a large Mac' and PC suite, A1 style printing rooms, animation studios, professional sound booths, academic studios and much more besides. There are 2 areas of accommodation for first year students, the Beechcroft complex off Sprowston Road and Nicholas Mews which is located on the opposite side of Norwich from the train station, both of which are between 10 and 20 minutes' walking distance to most of NUCA's buildings. Taught Degree AwardingFrom August 2008 Norwich School of Art and Design became Norwich University College of the Arts. This is by Order of the Privy Council, to reflect the granting of Taught Degree Awarding powers in November 2007. All students Starting after September 2008 will receive degrees from Norwich University College of that Arts.1 Notable Alumni
