Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (Norwegian: Norges Veterinærhøgskole) or NVH is a public university located in Oslo, Norway, that educates veterinaries and animal nurses as well as research within aquatic medicine, food safety, comparative medicine and mammal diseases, health and welfare. The institution has 430 employees and 460 students. Parts of the research are conducted in Tromsø and Sandnes.
ProgramsVeterinaryA total of 70 students are accepted to the veterinary courses each year at NVH. The program is a 5.5 year Master program leading to the title cand.med.vet. This is the only veterinary program in the country and one of the most difficult lines to get accepted into. Animal nursingNVH accepts 15 students each year for a two year course in animal nursing. Master of Science programsThe institution also started offering two two-year Master of Science programs within the fields of aquatic medicine and food safety. About 15 applicants are accepted on each of the two English language courses. Doctor studiesAbout 15 candidates are awarded the philosophiae doctor each year from NVH. It is based on a 3+1 year model, with three years of studying and research, and one year of work.
