The North Embarcadero Visionary Plan is a major waterfront development in DowntownSan Diego, California. It will include a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) esplanade with waterfront trails and public art. The area will be bordered by Market Street to the south (Marina District), Laurel Street to the north (Little Italy), and the railroad tracks to the east. It will contain 6.5 acres (26,000 m2) of gardens, 5 acres (20,000 m2) of open space plaza areas and will have more than 1,700 trees. It will redevelop the Broadway Pier and create new retail shopping.
