The fjord, sixth longest in Norway, is 106 km long and encompasses the rough coastline of Stadhavet as well as the glacier Jostedalsbreen, Europe's largest mainland glacier. It also includes Hornindalsvatnet, Europe's deepest lake at 514 meters. The glacierBriksdalsbreen is particularly scenic. Stryn provides year-round downhill skiing, and there are numerous old fishing communities going back to pre-Viking times.
