Nomi (能美市 , Nomi-shi ? ) is a city located in Ishikawa , Japan .
As of January 1 , 2005 population data, the city has an estimated population of 47,826 and a density of 570 persons per km² . The total area is 83.85 km².
The city was founded on February 1 , 2005 from the merger of the towns of Neagari , Tatsunokuchi , and Terai from Nomi District . Hideki Matsui , a current player for the New York Yankees , was born and raised in Neagari, and museum dedicated to him is located in Yamaguchi-machi.
