Nogent-le-Roi is a commune of about 4000 people, located some twenty kilometres north of Chartres and a shorter distance to the southeast of Dreux. It is in the department of Eure-et-Loir in the Central region of France.

Royal deaths

The first king of the Valois dynasty, Philip VI of France died at Nogent in August 1350, his father, Charles of Valois, himself also having died here in December 1325.

Twin towns

The town is twinned with Heddesheim near Mannheim in Germany.
