Nigel Parkinson is a British cartoonist who currently works for D. C. Thomson & Co. Ltd and mainly draws for The Beano and The Dandy. BiographyParkinson's career in comics began in 1980. In the 1980s and 90s he worked for most British publishers including Fleetway, BBC Magazines, D C Thomson, etc. His first work for The Dandy was in 1982, his first work for the Beano was in 1997. He started drawing Bea in October of 1998. He drew her in the same style as legendary artist David Parkins, but gradually , by October 2001 he was drawing Bea in his own style. In 2008, Bea absorbed Ivy the Terrible into her strip. Parkinson also occasionally drawsThe Bash Street Kids . In 1998 he also started work on The Dandy's football-mad character Owen Goal (which had previously used reprints of another strip in Nutty by artist Rob Lee). Parkinson redefined the character of Owen's fat, lazy coach (who famously has a sign hanging in his office saying, "Coach - He ate all the Pies") Following with his work on Owen Goal, in 2003, The Dandy commissioned Parkinson to freshen up the look of 'terrible toddlers' Cuddles and Dimples. In October 2004 he took over from the original artist, Barrie Appleby, making the characters look even more demonic. Famously, their dad is incompetent, their mum is a babe. To celebrate 60 years of The Beano Parkinson commenced work on Dennis the Menace, and has since alternated his interpretation of the character with other artists Jimmy Hansen and Tom Paterson. In 2008 he began drawing Puss'n'Boots and Marvo the Wonder Chicken for the Dandy and designed a new version of Lord Snooty (Lord Snooty the Third) for the Beano's 70th birthday year. Since 2005 Nigel Parkinson has also illustrated all of the Beano Jigsaw Puzzles and a lot of Dennis the Menace merchandise. Comic stripsThe main strips that Nigel has drawn are:
