Meaux is a commune of Seine-et-Marne, in the metropolitan area of Paris, France. This Francilienne town is located 41.1 km. (25.5 miles) east-northeast from the center of Paris (as the crow flies). Meaux is a sous-préfecture of the Seine-et-Marne département, being the seat of the Arrondissement of Meaux. Although it is the most populous commune in the Seine-et-Marne, it is not the préfecture (capital), which resides in the commune of Melun.

Meaux, together with 18 smaller neighboring communes, form an urban area of 67,956 inhabitants (1999 census). This urban area is a satellite city of Paris.

Meaux is known for Brie de Meaux (a variety of Brie cheese) and the local variety of mustard.

The town is represented by the CS Meaux association football club.
