Lyxose is an aldopentose — a monosaccharide containing five carbon atoms, and including an aldehyde functional group. It has chemical formula C₅H₁₀O₅.

Lyxose occurs only rarely in nature; for example, as a component of bacterial glycolipids.^[1]
