Luarca is one of 15 parroquias in the Municipality Valdes, in Asturias, Spain. Luarca is a parroquia with 6,363 habitants (2007) and an area of 5.94 km². It is 110 m high. The village is 90 km away from the capital, Oviedo. The Nobel laureate for medicine in 1959, Severo Ochoa, was born in Luarca.
