Lola The Vamp is the only burlesque performer in theatrical history to perform burlesque for the academic award of PhD. She is part of the resurgent burlesque movement of the early 21st Century, including performers such as Dirty Martini, Dita Von Teese and Jo Boobs. Lola's work in burlesque harks to the Art Nouveau aesthetics of the Belle Epoque era, rather the classic striptease of mid-20th Century Burlesque. Australian, her performances include Tease-o-rama 2002, 2003, and 2005, and Miss Exotic World Pageant 2006, Go Go Burlesco in Sydney and Edinburgh Fringe 2005 (for which her show earned several positive reviews in the UK from The Times and The Scotsman) The Big Day Out 2003, 2004 2005, and her headlining tours of the East Coast of Australia 2007 and 2008. Lola has been involved in launching two burlesque clubs in Australia and was the subject of an exhibition by 5 artists at Rivoli Gallery in Brisbane in 2005. In 2005 she launched La Lola Salon, Australia's first burlesque school of the neo-burlesque period. She became Australian Penthouse Pet of the Month in November 2007.
