John Verney, 1st Viscount Fermanagh

John Verney, 1st Viscount Fermanagh (5 November 1640 – 23 June 1717) was an English peer and Tory politician.

The son of Sir Ralph Verney, 1st Bt and Mary Blacknall, he succeeded to his father's baronetcy in 1696. Verney was Member of Parliament (MP) for Buckinghamshire from 1710 to 1715 and for Amersham from 1715 to 1717. On 16 June 1703, he was created Viscount Fermanagh, of the County of Fermanagh along with the subsidiary title Baron Verney of Belturbet, in the County of Cavan. Verney died aged 76 and was buried in Middle Claydon in Buckinghamshire on 28 June 1717.

On 27 May 1680, he married firstly Elizabeth Palmer, daughter of Ralph Palmer, on 10 July 1692 secondly Mary Lawley, daughter of Sir Francis Lawley, Bt and on 8 April 1696 thirdly Elizabeth Baker, daughter of Daniel Baker. The first two marriages took place in Westminster Abbey in Westminster, the third in Kensington in London. Verney had one daughter and one son Ralph Verney by Elizabeth Palmer.
