Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, also known as simply Hilton College is an academic college at the University of Houston. The college, consisting of several facilities, includes a full-service Hilton Hotel. The College currently offers multiple programs that include: Bachelors of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (B.S. HRM), Bachelors of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a Minor in Wine and Spirits Management and Marketing (B.S./Minor CBM), and Single or Dual Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and Hospitality Administration (MHA).
HistoryThe Hilton College began in 1969 when James Taylor, who would be the first dean for the college, presented Eric Hilton, son of Conrad N. Hilton with plans for a hospitality college to be located at the University of Houston. Barron Hilton, upon hearing of the particular college from his brother agreed it would be an excellent opportunity to honor their father. After Conrad Hilton was presented with the plans from his sons, he immediately contributed $1.5 Million dollars for completion of the project.[1] Following the start of classes on September 16, 1969. a Black Tie Dinner was held in celebration by the President of UH.[1] Student OrganizationsThe college is home to a number of hospitality organizations such as:
