Hershey Trust Company was created in 1905, as Milton S. Hershey was organizing to create the Milton Hershey School. In 1909, when he founded the school, Hershey appointed the Trust as administrator of the school trust. When Milton Hershey died in 1945, Hershey Estates (renamed Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company) came under Hershey Trust administration.
