Grace Llewellyn is an American educator, author, and publisher. Her work in the fields of youth liberation, unschooling and homeschooling is widely-regarded. She is the founder of Lowry House Publishers and founder/director of Not Back To School Camp.^[1]

Biography

In 1996 Ms. Llewellyn started Not Back to School Camp, or NBTSC, an annual camp for self-educated teenagers age 13-18. NBTSC offers a camper and staff-led activities which, in keeping with the philosophy of unschooling, campers can choose to participate in what they find interesting.^[2] In 2005 Llewellyn was working on a book of resources for teens who can't leave school. She lives in Eugene, Oregon.

Bibliography

Llewellyn's best known book is The Teenage Liberation Handbook: How to Quit School and Get a Real Life and Education (ISBN 0-9629591-7-0), which she was inspired to write after three years of teaching, and after discovering the work of John Caldwell Holt. Other books include
