The flag of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is a combination of the Pan-Arab colors and symbols related to Islam. The flag was originally adopted on 27 February 1976 and was slightly modified in June 1991. Most of the region that is claimed by the SADR, Western Sahara, is administered by Morocco and the Morocco national flag can be seen in most of Western Sahara.

The flag, originally used by the Polisario Front, consists of the colours black, green, white and red. The overall design of the flag is similar to that of Palestine, but this was not intentional. This flag, among many others, was derived from the colours used in the Arab Revolt. The star and crescent are major symbols of Islam and can be seen on flags of other Islamic countries, such as Pakistan.

Construction sheet

An official construction sheet for the SADR flag was released by the SADR Government in June 1987. The flag ratio is 1:2 and the length of the red triangle is 1/3rd of the total flag. The reverse of the national flag does not have the star and crescent on the white stripe.^[1]
