Dowgate is a ward of the City of London. The ward is bounded by Swan Lane, the River Thames, Cousin Lane and Cannon Street.
St. Michael Paternoster Royal
Livery companies quartered in the ward, include the Dyers, Innholders, Skinners and Tallow Chandlers situated in Dowgate Hill. There is one church, St Michael Paternoster1, also housing The Mission to Seafarers. The ward also contains Cannon Street railway station.
Politics
Dowgate is one of 25 wards in the City of London, each electing an Alderman, to the Court of Aldermen and Commoners (the City equivalent of a Councillor) to the Court of Common Council of the City of London Corporation. Only electors who are Freeman of the City of London are eligible to stand.
