'Dawn' is a book by Elie Wiesel published in 1961. Dawn is sometimes considered to be a sequel to Night, Wiesel's account of his experiences during the Holocaust. However, unlike Night, Dawn is a work of fiction. It tells the story of Elisha, a Holocaust survivor. After the war, Elisha moves to the British Mandate of Palestine and joins a terrorist group determined to oust the British from the area. One night, Elisha is told that he must execute a British officer at dawn, and the novel covers his struggle with his inner demons.

The main character's name in Dawn, Elisha, is presumed to derive from the author's own name of Eliezer, possibly for reasons such as "predicting" what his life could have been like if he had chosen a different path after the Holocaust, of which he was also a survivor.
