Daena is a Zoroastrian concept representing insight and revelation. Daena also is the name of a psychopomp from the Zoroastrian religion: she appears as a beautiful young maiden to those who deserve to cross the Chinvat bridge or a hideous old hag to those who don’t. In the lore of some Northern Michigan Native American nations, Daena is the name of a great hero who restored love and emotion into a dying world, when he went on a perilous journey to the East seeking the heart of the fairest maiden in the world, Carmina. The unrivaled love that they shared was said to be strong enough to bring life back to the entire world.
