Cranium, Inc. is a board game company based in Seattle, Washington's Belltown neighborhood, best known for its namesake party game, Cranium. It was founded by former Microsoft executives Richard Tait and Whit Alexander in 1998. In April 2007, Cranium laid off 20% of its staff.[1]

Awards

Cranium was named "Game of the Year" for 2001 by the Toy Industry Association.[2]

Cranium Cadoo, a version for kids (7 and up), won the "Game of the Year" award for 2002 from the Toy Industry Association.[3]

Cranium Hullabaloo, a version of the game aimed at young kids (4 and up), won the "Game of the Year" award for 2003 from the Toy Industry Association.[4]

It was announced on January 4, 2008 that Cranium was acquired by Hasbro, Inc. for a reported amount of $77.5 million.[5]
