Clairin is a strong spirit produced in Haiti, processed from cane sugar. Similar to rum in taste, clairin tends to be clear in color. Clairin is manufactured through the same process of distillation as rum although it is not refined to separate the different alcohols produced by fermentation and exhaustion.

In the renowned novelist's Jacques Roumain's famous literary work: Gouverneurs de la Rosée (Masters of the Dew) clairin features predominantly in a vodou ritual.
