The Faroe Islands do not have a long history of cinema. This is because the Islands are very small and far away from the rest of Europe. The first director of the Faroe Islands was Katrin Ottarsdóttir. Her first film set in the Faroe Islands was Atlantic Rhapsody in 1989.
