Cerknica (Ger. Zirknitz; It. Circonio) is a municipality (občina) in the Kras region of southwestern Slovenia, with a population of 10,284 (2002 Census).

Windsurfing is popular at Lake Cerknica, an intermittent lake in the vicinity of the city and the largest lake in Slovenia.
