Books on Poster are a book medium in which large texts are printed in legible form on single surfaces. The medium's premise is that while legibility scales proportionally with character width, the number of characters that fit onto a given surfaces scales with the inverse of the character area. Thus, unexpectedly large numbers of characters may be condensed onto a single surface, such as a poster, while remaining legible. This form enables widely separated passages to be comprehended at a glance without technological aides. Typically, antialiasing and sans-serif fonts are used to further improve readability.
