Bob Carpenter is a long-time sportscaster, widely associated with the St. Louis Cardinals baseball television broadcast team.

Carpenter currently serves as the television play-by-play announcer for the Washington Nationals on MASN. He was teamed with former major-league oufielder Tom Paciorek in the 2006 season but Paciorek's contract was not renewed for 2007. [1] For the 2007 season, he was teamed with Hall-of-Fame pitcher Don Sutton. Both Carpenter and Sutton will return to the Nationals in 2009.

Carpenter served two stints with the Cardinals, and also spent fifteen seasons as a baseball announcer with ESPN, covering college baseball and minor league baseball in addition to the major leagues. He also served as a team broadcaster for the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers.[2]

Carpenter has developed his own scorebook, which is now used by many major and minor league announcers.[3]

Carpenter is a two-time St. Louis-area Emmy Award winner for his coverage of the Cardinals.
